Korea 2019 - 2021

This project began out of a desire to document particular moments in time. Due to globalization, the socialscape in Korea is ever-shifting; trends come and go as fast as new buildings are thrown up or old ones are torn down. As a Korean American visiting Korea for the first time in 2019, and again during the pandemic from 2020 to 2021, it was particularly important to me to create a visual archive of the people and spaces around me. Drawing upon a framework of queer futurity, I took inspiration from the spatial dimensions of queerness in the form of clubs as well as the radical traditions surrounding techno as a music genre and the culture that surrounds it.
